Modular Projects

From 2016-2019 six pilot projects were carried out across the northern Mediterranean to implement a variety of renewable energy systems in rural and island areas. Lessons learnt from these projects led to the design of the Ecosystemic Transition Unit (ETU) model.

The Community’s six modular projects explored challenges and solutions for implementing the renewable energy transition in rural and island areas, including: planning capacity of small municipalities, fiscal policies that support renewable energies, the involvement of local businesses in policy making and public-private cooperation, as well as the development of biomass energy, microgrids, and energy storage systems.
