INVITATION: CIrClE 2018 “Challenges for the islands in the era of Circular Economy”

CIrClE2018 will be held in Chania, Crete, Greece from 20-22 September 2018!

We have the pleasure to cordially invite you to the forthcoming international Conference CirClE2018 "Challenges for the Islands in the era of Circular Economy", organized under the auspices of the European Commission. CIrClE2018 will be held in Chania, Crete, Greece from 20-22 September 2018; it is aiming at promoting circular economy in the islands, identifying good practice, highlighting cross-border cooperation, enhancing bilateral & multilateral relations, strengthening economic & business opportunities and promoting green and blue growth, sustainable development and implementing circular economy practices in the islands of the Mediterranean by building capacity to that effect.

The Conference cornerstone is explaining the new circular economy framework, sharing good practice, networking & dialogue promotion, focusing on economic and territorial cohesion, capacity building, transferability and regional cooperation in topics, such as:

  • Water resources
  • Waste management and plastics' strategy
  • Blue growth
  • Insularity issues
  • EU co-financing and relevant instruments

During the dedicated business forum session, institutions, businesses and policy-makers will meet to exchange their views for transforming ideas into business opportunities, supported by innovative funding - financing tools fostering Circular Economy business models and eco-innovation. The parallel Interprogramme synergies roundtable will boost the interaction between major strategic programme frameworks and the capitalization of common priorities and policy positions. The overall target is to bridge knowledge gaps by exchanging ideas between EU officials and policy-makers, EU funds and programs’ national managers, financial institutions, large enterprises and SMEs, academic and research institutions and EU co-financing instruments.
